Public school students in grades 11 and 12 would be eligible for up to three excused absences per school year for college visits or visits to postsecondary technical institutions.

Absences for military recruitment-related activities (including testing, medical evaluations, interviews, and fingerprinting required for Armed Forces or National Guard enlistment) would also be recorded as excused absences with no stated limit.

Excused absences under this bill would not appear on transcripts, applications, employment forms, or similar documents requesting attendance information.

Schools cannot count these excused absences against a student when determining perfect attendance records for the year.

Students must provide documentation as required by the superintendent or principal to verify eligibility for the excused absence.
