Municipalities receive one credit plus one bonus credit toward their fair share affordable housing obligation for each bedroom in transitional housing occupied by or restricted for low or moderate income veterans

Transitional housing must be restricted for veteran occupancy for at least 10 years to qualify for the bonus credit

Transitional housing is defined as housing with supportive services that helps homeless individuals or families move to permanent housing, typically within 24 months

Eligible veterans must be New Jersey citizens and residents honorably discharged from active duty in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces

The bill supplements the Fair Housing Act (P.L.1985, c.222) and takes effect immediately upon enactment
