Division of Child Protection and Permanency and Division of Criminal Justice must develop training on law enforcement officers' responsibilities as mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect, including procedures from the DCF/Law Enforcement Model Coordinated Response Protocol.

New law enforcement officers must complete the training within 90 days of appointment or transfer, and all officers must complete refresher training every three years as part of in-service requirements.

Officers appointed before the law's effective date must complete the training within 36 months.

Division of Child Protection and Permanency must periodically assess and update the training curriculum as needed.

Department of Children and Families, with Department of Law and Public Safety, must adopt implementing regulations under the Administrative Procedure Act.
