Public institutions of higher education in New Jersey must award academic credit for AP exam scores of 3 or higher and CLEP assessment scores of 50 or higher to students pursuing associate or baccalaureate degrees

Credits earned through AP and CLEP must be applied to academic degree requirements to the greatest extent feasible

Institutions must publish their AP and CLEP credit policies on their websites and submit them to the Secretary of Higher Education, with 60 days advance notice required for any policy changes

The Secretary of Higher Education may grant course-by-course exemptions from the credit requirements if an institution provides data showing different score thresholds are necessary for student success in advanced courses

Takes effect immediately and applies to the first full academic year following enactment
