New Jersey National Guard members who have completed Initial Active Duty Training and are in good standing may transfer their tuition benefit to a spouse or dependent child under this bill

The existing tuition benefit allows Guard members to receive up to 16 credits per semester tuition-free at any New Jersey public institution of higher education

The spouse or dependent child receiving the transferred benefit must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good standing and must apply for all available state and federal student grants and scholarships

Guard members may only transfer the benefit to one person (either a spouse or one dependent child, not multiple recipients)

The bill amends N.J.S.18A:62-24 and would take effect immediately upon enactment
