Public and private higher education institutions in New Jersey must provide students with outstanding federal student loan debt information about the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program during the semester before expected graduation and during the graduation application semester.

Government employers designated as qualifying PSLF employers must inform all employees about the program during initial benefits orientation and at least once annually thereafter.

Required information must include PSLF eligibility requirements: qualifying employer, minimum 30 hours per week or full-time status, Direct Loans or consolidated federal loans, income-driven repayment plan enrollment, and 120 qualifying monthly payments.

Government employers must also provide employer-specific information needed for employees to complete PSLF applications.

Section 1 (higher education requirements) takes effect immediately for the first full academic year after enactment; Section 2 (employer requirements) takes effect 90 days after enactment.
