Boards of education may provide virtual or remote instruction to students at public schools used as polling places on any election day, including primary, general, municipal, school, and special elections.

Schools must ensure all students have access to computers, sufficient broadband, and any other required technology before offering virtual instruction on election days.

Public schools used as polling places are not required to offer hybrid (combined in-person and virtual) instruction on election days—they may go fully remote.

Virtual or remote instruction days provided under this bill count toward the mandatory 180-day school year requirement.

Schools not serving as polling places on election days are prohibited from using this provision to offer virtual instruction.
