Veterans who are New Jersey citizens and residents with honorable discharge from active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserve components qualify for up to 60 tuition-free credits at their county of residence's community college.

Eligible veterans must apply for all available state and federal student grants, scholarships, and Post-9/11 GI Bill tuition benefits before receiving this benefit.

Any credits awarded by the county college for military experience count toward the 60-credit tuition-free maximum.

County colleges may still charge veterans other fees (subject to State Treasurer approval), and their financial aid offices must advise veterans of available grant and scholarship opportunities.

The benefit takes effect for the first full academic year following the bill's enactment.
