Licensed master plumbers in New Jersey would be permitted to replace electric water heaters (up to 240 volts with similar size and voltage) and service disconnects for replacement air conditioning condensing units (up to 240 volts) without obtaining an electrical contractor business permit.

Amends P.L.1962, c.162 (C.45:5A-18), which lists exemptions from electrical contractor licensing requirements.

The exemption applies only to replacement work where the disconnecting means is at the load side of the distribution board or service disconnect and located within sight of the equipment.

Takes effect on the first day of the fourth month following enactment and applies to contracts initiated on or after the effective date.
