Employers with New Jersey State contracts must pay employees their usual compensation for each day of jury service, minus the per diem jury fee received from the court.

Applies only to employers with at least 50 employees for 20 or more weeks who hold contracts paid in whole or part with State funds.

Eligible employees must have worked for the employer for at least 12 months and at least 1,000 hours in the preceding 12-month period before jury service.

Employers who violate the jury service protections are guilty of a disorderly persons offense and may face civil lawsuits for economic damages and employee reinstatement.

Takes effect six months after enactment.
