Nonpublic schools in New Jersey must provide student disciplinary records to public school districts when students transfer, upon written request from the receiving district.

Nonpublic schools are required to notify the public school district of any information received from courts, law enforcement, or prosecuting agencies regarding offenses the student may have been charged with.

Parental or adult student consent is not required for the transfer of disciplinary records, though the nonpublic school must provide written notice of the transfer to parents or adult students.

If the receiving school district does not receive the required records, it must use every available means to obtain them.

The bill mirrors existing procedures for transferring disciplinary records between public school districts, extending similar requirements to nonpublic-to-public school transfers.
