Omnibus (bus) drivers must visually inspect the bus at the end of each transportation route to ensure no person with a disability has been left on board.

Drivers found to have left a person with a disability on the bus face escalating penalties: one-month license suspension for first offense, six-month suspension for second offense, and permanent revocation for third offense.

Permanent revocation of commercial driving privileges applies immediately if a driver acted with gross negligence and a person with a disability was harmed due to foreseeable danger.

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission must record all violations in driver records and report suspensions or revocations to the federal Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS).

The act takes effect on the first day of the fourth month following enactment.
