Candidates and petition circulators must take a new "bona fide candidacy oath" swearing they are running in good faith and not engaging in "vote syphoning schemes" to undermine another candidate's campaign.

Falsely making this oath constitutes a third degree crime under New Jersey law.

All oath affidavits must be submitted on paper, signed by the affiant, and attached to petitions when filed; failure to do so renders the petition defective.

Independent expenditure committees must file pre-election reports on the 29th and 11th days before elections, plus post-election reports within 20 days, disclosing contributions over $7,500 and all independent expenditures.

Election contests may now be brought when a nomination petition violates the bona fide candidacy oath requirements or when the annexed affidavit is false or defective.
