New Jersey would be required to pay transportation costs for homeless students attending their district of residence school while temporarily living in another district, covering any amount exceeding the district's average per pupil transportation cost

Students displaced by terrorism or natural disasters who remain enrolled in their original district for up to two years would have excess transportation costs covered by the State rather than the district

School districts would continue to be responsible for transportation costs up to their average per pupil cost, with the State covering only the amount above that threshold

The bill takes effect immediately and applies starting with the first full school year following enactment
