Surviving spouses of retired Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) members who were receiving accidental disability retirement allowances at death become eligible for State Health Benefits Program enrollment with premiums paid in full by the State for the spouse and dependent children.

Surviving spouses may continue receiving pension benefits even after remarriage, with the State covering any increased employer contribution costs to the retirement system.

Eligibility requires documentation approved by the PFRS Board of Trustees showing that the disability-causing injury, its complications, or aggravation of a preexisting condition was a significant contributing factor in the retiree's death.

Applies retroactively to surviving spouses of members who died before, on, or after the bill's effective date, including those whose pensions were previously terminated due to remarriage who may apply for reinstatement.
