New Jersey school districts serving grades 4-12 must hold an annual 3-5 day bullying prevention and intervention program with age-appropriate educational sessions for all students.

Required session topics include comprehensive bullying awareness, cyberbullying prevention, bystander intervention and conflict resolution, empathy and inclusivity, and building supportive peer relationships.

School staff must also receive bullying prevention training as part of the program, which may count toward existing mandatory training requirements.

Districts may contract with third-party organizations specializing in bullying prevention to develop and administer the program.

The Commissioner of Education may withhold State aid from non-compliant districts, and districts lacking resources may apply for grants from the Bullying Prevention Fund.
