New Jersey National Guard members in good standing who completed Initial Active Duty Training may transfer their tuition benefit to either a spouse or one dependent child, but not both

Spouses receiving the transferred benefit are eligible for up to 16 credits per semester tuition-free at New Jersey public colleges and universities (100% of the member's benefit)

Dependent children receiving the transferred benefit are eligible for up to 8 credits per semester tuition-free (50% of the member's benefit)

Recipients must be enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students in good standing and must apply for all available state and federal grants and scholarships

The State will reimburse public institutions for tuition costs of spouses and dependents receiving transferred benefits, to the extent not covered by federal VA educational assistance
