Commissioner of Education must complete reviews of annual audits from approved private schools for students with disabilities (APSSDs) within 7 years of submission, or the audit is automatically deemed approved.

For audits submitted for school years ending before the bill's effective date, the deadline is either 7 years from submission or 2 years after the bill takes effect, whichever is later.

The Commissioner cannot issue adverse findings, adjustments, or penalties after these deadlines have passed.

The bill addresses delays of 20 years or more that currently occur in the audit review process, which creates budgeting problems for both APSSDs and sending school districts.

APSSDs serve students with disabilities who receive educational programs and services required by their individual education programs as part of New Jersey's continuum of special education services.
