Mandates health insurance coverage for lipedema treatment in New Jersey, including compression garments, manual lymphatic drainage, medical nutrition therapy, mental health care, and medically necessary lipectomy surgery with pre- and post-operative appointments.

Applies to all major insurance types: hospital/medical/health service corporations, individual and group health insurance policies, HMOs, small employer plans, and State and School Employees' Health Benefits Programs.

Limits documentation requirements to a physician's lipedema diagnosis and, for surgery, the surgeon's supporting photographs and recommended number of lipectomies; prohibits denying coverage based solely on photographs.

Requires prior authorization for lipectomy to remain valid for one year and mandates insurers honor prior authorizations from a patient's previous carrier when switching plans.

Takes effect on the first day of the sixth month following enactment and applies to contracts entered into or renewed after that date.
