Codifies seven State-excused absences for New Jersey public school students into statute, including religious observance, Veterans Day participation, election board activities, civic events, Take Our Children to Work Day, and busing district closures

Expands excused absences for 11th and 12th grade students to include military service activities (testing, medical evaluations, interviews, fingerprinting), vocational or trade school visits, and labor-related open houses, up to three days per school year

State-excused absences will not appear on transcripts, applications, or employment forms and cannot count against a student's perfect attendance record

Students must provide documentation as required by the superintendent or principal to verify eligibility for a State-excused absence

Takes effect 180 days after enactment, becoming operative on the first day of the next full school year
