Presidents of New Jersey public colleges and universities must report all crimes, fires, and emergencies occurring on campus to the institution's governing board at each regular meeting.

Required report contents include: count and classification of criminal incidents recorded by campus security and police, a list of campus alerts and threats, and count and classification of fire incidents recorded by campus security and local fire departments.

Optional report contents may include: status of investigations, disciplinary actions taken against students or employees involved, and measures or training implemented to reduce future incidents.

Confidential matters not subject to public records laws must be reported during executive session, and such reporting does not make the information subject to New Jersey's open public records act or other disclosure requirements.

The bill takes effect immediately upon enactment.
