Allows physician assistants with 4,000+ hours of clinical practice experience to practice independently without physician supervision or collaboration requirements

Redefines "collaboration" to mean consultation with or referral to any appropriate health care practitioner (not just physicians) based on the PA's education, competencies, experience, and standard of care

Requires physician assistants with fewer than 4,000 hours of clinical experience in a particular specialty to establish a supervising or collaborating relationship with a licensed physician or other appropriate health care practitioner before practicing in that specialty

Removes the requirement for physician assistants to register their supervising or collaborating physician with the New Mexico Medical Board during biennial license renewal

Mandates that physician assistants practicing in collaboration maintain malpractice liability insurance qualifying them under the Medical Malpractice Act
