Packaging and labeling cannot include cartoons, imagery mimicking products marketed to minors, holographic or metallic effects, or shapes resembling candy, toys, or entertainment media commonly associated with children

Artificial color additives not expressly approved by the Cannabis Control Division will render a cannabis product adulterated, making it illegal to sell

Licensees who manufacture, distribute, sell, or offer cannabis products with unapproved artificial colors or non-compliant packaging face penalties under Section 26-2C-8 NMSA 1978, and are liable even if a third party manufactured the product

Effective date is January 1, 2027
