School districts and charter schools must provide annual firearm safety training to students in grades 6-12 beginning in the 2027-2028 school year, with optional training for pre-K through 5th grade

Training curriculum must be developed or approved by the Public Education Department and Department of Public Safety, covering safe firearm storage, school safety issues, and age-appropriate protocols for children who find firearms

Training must be viewpoint-neutral on political and legal issues related to firearms and the right to keep and bear arms

Training must be non-shooting instruction without live ammunition, live fire, or live firearms present, and may be delivered via classroom instruction, video, or physical/digital materials

Private training programs may be approved but cannot include branded content affiliated with commercial or nonprofit organizations
