Amends Section 30-22-25 NMSA 1978 to increase penalties for aggravated battery upon a peace officer while the officer is lawfully performing duties

Aggravated battery causing painful temporary disfigurement or temporary loss/impairment of bodily functions (not likely to cause death or great bodily harm) is classified as a fourth degree felony

Aggravated battery inflicting great bodily harm, or committed with a deadly weapon or in a manner capable of causing great bodily harm or death, is classified as a second degree felony

Effective date is July 1, 2026
