Marks the 25th anniversary of the New Mexico National Board Certified Teacher Network, established in 2001 to promote certification and accomplished teaching

As of 2024, New Mexico has 1,612 national board-certified teachers across school districts, Bureau of Indian Education schools, and charter schools, including 451 teachers of color and 596 in STEM areas

As of January 2025, New Mexico ranks 8th nationally for percentage of educators with active national board certifications

National board certification requires 3-5 years to complete, with competency demonstrations across three performance-based domains plus a written test of content and pedagogical knowledge
