Recognizes Major General Patrick J. Hurley, who brought his family to New Mexico in 1935, for his service as Secretary of War under Hoover, ambassador to New Zealand and China under Roosevelt, and first American to visit the Eastern front in Russia during WWII

Honors Patrick Hurley's military decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Purple Heart; he was named to the New Mexico Hall of Fame before his 1963 death

Recognizes Wilson Hurley, Patrick's son, a West Point graduate (1945) who served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and Air Force, including deployments to Vietnam and Korea, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel

Honors Wilson Hurley's second career as an acclaimed landscape painter with over 1,200 paintings sold, works displayed in 11 museums, and awards including the 1984 Prix de West; he was inducted into the New Mexico National Guard's Hall of Honor in 2025

Honors the New Mexico Military Museum, housed in a historic Santa Fe armory, for preserving the state's military history and hosting a Wilson Hurley exhibition beginning February 12, 2026
