Prohibits punitive damages and exemplary damages from being awarded in any medical malpractice claim in New Mexico

Removes existing provisions from Section 41-5-7 NMSA 1978 that previously allowed punitive damage judgments against health care providers as their personal liability

Awards for past and future medical care and related benefits remain exempt from the statutory recovery limits under the Medical Malpractice Act

Beginning January 1, 2027, judgments or settlements against hospitals or outpatient health care facilities for injuries or deaths occurring after December 31, 2026 cannot be paid from the patient compensation fund

Amends the Medical Malpractice Act by adding a new section explicitly barring punitive damages in malpractice claims
