Increases the general misdemeanor fine for Motor Vehicle Code violations from a maximum of $300 to a range of $100-$500, with imprisonment up to 90 days

Raises reckless driving fines: first offense from $25-$100 to $500-$750; second/subsequent offense from $50-$100 to $750-$1,000

Establishes new careless driving penalties: first offense up to 90 days imprisonment and/or $250-$500 fine; second/subsequent offense up to 6 months imprisonment and/or $500-$750 fine

Increases penalty assessments for dozens of traffic violations by $75, including speeding (e.g., 1-10 mph over limit rises from $25 to $100), seat belt violations ($25 to $100), and texting while driving ($25 to $100)

Raises open container first violation penalty from $25 to $300 and handheld device use in commercial vehicles from $25 to $250 for first offense
