Boards of regents at New Mexico state higher education institutions would be prohibited from awarding, denying, revoking, or placing conditions on tenured faculty positions

All academic tenure decisions would be required to follow each institution's existing policies

Tenure decisions must be based on recommendations from the institution's faculty

Adds a new section to Chapter 21 of New Mexico statutes governing higher education
