Reduces maximum weekly work hours for children under 16 from 48 hours to 40 hours per week, with exceptions for motion picture performers and farm workers.

Prohibits high school students aged 16-18 who are not emancipated from working between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on nights before school days.

Exempts lifeguards, arcade employees, and stage/theatrical performers from the nighttime work restrictions; school districts, governing bodies, or juvenile courts may grant individual exemptions.

Requires the Labor Commissioner to prepare and post an abstract of child labor laws online and include a QR code linking to this information in existing employer notices.

Violations are a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail and/or a fine up to $1,000, plus civil penalties; federal Fair Labor Standards Act violations for children under 16 are also enforceable under state law.
