Peace officers investigating domestic violence must complete a lethality assessment form for suspected victims when the alleged perpetrator is a spouse, former spouse, dating partner, or person with whom the victim shares a child

When a lethality assessment indicates a potentially high-risk lethal situation, officers must advise the victim of their risk level, provide a domestic violence resource card, and refer them to a victim's advocate

Each law enforcement agency must create a written or electronic form for documenting lethality assessment results, and officers must submit these results to the district attorney of the jurisdiction where the domestic violence occurred

Courts may consider lethality assessment results when reviewing custody status of persons charged with domestic violence offenses

Effective upon passage for administrative preparation and October 1, 2025, for all other purposes; contains an unfunded mandate for local governments
