Parents or guardians may complete a notarized form to nominate a guardian for their minor child, which must be signed by two impartial adult witnesses and will be considered by courts when determining guardian suitability.

The "Request to Nominate Guardian of a Minor" form may be filed in the Nevada Lockbox electronic registry and must be made available on the Secretary of State's website.

Temporary guardianship is presumed to be in a minor's best interest when no parent has care, custody, or control due to separation from the minor under a federal immigration order.

The Secretary of State may no longer charge fees for registering wills or other documents in the Nevada Lockbox.

Courts, hospitals, and law enforcement may access the Lockbox to determine whether a guardian has been designated for a minor.
