Elected county officers (district attorneys, sheriffs, county clerks, assessors, recorders, treasurers, public administrators) will receive for FY 2025-2026 either an inflation-adjusted base salary from FY 2018-2019 or 3% more than their highest-paid subordinate employee, whichever is higher.

County commissioners will receive set annual salaries starting FY 2025-2026 ranging from $121,000 (Clark County) to $30,000 (smallest counties), with 3% annual increases for the following 5 fiscal years.

Boards of county commissioners may provide a 2% cost-of-living increase to elected officers' base salaries annually or as deemed appropriate.

If a county lacks sufficient funds to pay increased salaries, any reduction must be applied equally to all elected officers and commissioners using proportional calculations or the same formula applied to other county employees.

The Joint Interim Standing Committee on Government Affairs is authorized to review during 2025-2026 whether county commissioners should serve full-time or part-time and to evaluate appropriate commissioner salaries.
