Nevada Board of Medical Examiners may issue limited licenses to foreign-trained physicians (excluding Canada) who hold valid unrestricted foreign medical licenses, have completed residency or practiced medicine within the past 5 years, and have passed all steps of the United States Medical Licensing Examination.

Limited licensees must practice under supervision of an unrestricted Nevada-licensed physician with at least 2 years of experience in the same specialty, pursuant to a written practice agreement approved by the Board.

Employment settings for limited licensees include federally-qualified health centers, state/county facilities, nonprofit mental health or primary care facilities, and physician group practices in medically underserved areas.

Limited licensees may obtain unrestricted licenses after completing at least 2 years of full-time supervised practice in good standing with written recommendations from supervising physicians.

Board of Medical Examiners must submit annual reports to the Legislature by January 31 detailing applications received, quality assessments of limited licensees, and geographic distribution data; provisions take effect July 1, 2026.
