Firefighters and volunteer firefighters not employed by the State Executive Department must submit to annual cancer screenings upon commencement of coverage, with employers required to pay for all screenings

Physical examinations for non-state firefighters, arson investigators, and police officers must be administered by physicians or advanced practice registered nurses knowledgeable about firefighting and law enforcement physical demands

Required physical examinations for non-state employees must include comprehensive testing: hearing tests, tuberculosis screening, full body examination, extensive blood analysis (22+ tests), pulmonary function tests, chest x-rays, cardiac evaluations including EKG, and vision screening

Cancer screenings must include skin examination, mammograms for women 40+, pap smears, prostate tests for men, thyroid examination, urinalysis, fecal occult blood test, and colonoscopy for those 45+ (every 10 years)

Effective date is July 1, 2026, and local governments are exempt from state unfunded mandate restrictions for expenses related to implementing this act
