Family members providing personal care services to Medicaid-eligible children under 18 with disabilities or chronic illnesses that prevent them from performing daily living activities must be reimbursed by the Department of Health and Human Services

The Department must apply for any necessary federal waivers or State Medicaid Plan amendments to obtain federal funding for these family caregiver reimbursements

State General Fund appropriations total $549,337 over the 2025-2027 biennium ($135,086 for FY 2025-2026 and $414,251 for FY 2026-2027), with additional authorized non-General Fund expenditures of $922,360

The reimbursement program becomes fully effective January 1, 2027, with regulatory and administrative preparations beginning upon passage
