Psychological assistants and psychological interns will obtain provisional licenses from the Board of Psychological Examiners instead of registrations, while psychological trainees will continue to register with the Board.

Applicants for a provisional license as a psychological intern must have completed all courses required for their doctoral training program or doctorate-level training before applying.

Provisional licenses for psychological assistants expire after 1 year and may be renewed for a maximum of 3 years total; provisional licenses for psychological interns expire after 2 years and may be renewed.

The bill makes conforming changes throughout Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 641 to reflect the new provisional licensing terminology for psychological assistants and interns.

The substantive provisions become effective January 1, 2026, with immediate effect upon passage for purposes of adopting regulations and administrative preparation.
