Nevada Department of Education must develop, implement, and disseminate a model policy for screening pupils' behavioral, social, and emotional well-being, in consultation with education and child mental/behavioral health experts

The screening policy must use a progressive support system starting with universal screenings for all pupils and advancing to individualized plans for students needing additional support

Required policy components include evidence-based implementation processes, scientifically validated screening tools for mental health and substance use risk factors, staff training resources, and guidelines for monitoring effectiveness

School districts, charter schools, university schools for profoundly gifted pupils, and private schools may voluntarily adopt the policy and customize implementation based on their specific needs, priorities, and resources

The act becomes effective upon passage and approval
