State and local agencies collecting race/ethnicity data must provide disaggregated subcategories for Asian respondents (Chinese, Vietnamese, Asian Indian, Korean, Filipino, Japanese, or other) and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander respondents (Native Hawaiian, Samoan, Chamorro, Tongan, Fijian, Marshallese, or other)

Race/ethnicity information must be requested in no more than one question, and agencies must also collect primary language spoken at home where applicable

Agencies must publish collected demographic data on their websites and include it in demographic reports, while keeping personally identifiable information confidential

Services or assistance cannot be denied to anyone who refuses to provide race/ethnicity information

Requirements take effect January 1, 2026, and do not apply to data collected before that date; the bill contains an unfunded mandate for local governments
