Board of Regents members must complete at least 6 hours of professional development training during the first and third year of each term, with mandatory instruction on the Open Meeting Law and elimination of bias and discrimination in higher education

Training topics may include ethics laws, public records laws, financial management, fiduciary duties, employment law, campus safety, academic freedom, and executive search best practices

Secretary of the Board must assist members with training, publish notice of any member's noncompliance on the Board's website, and notify other Board members in writing of any failures to complete required training

Members receive compensation for training completed outside of Board meetings, equal to their per-meeting salary for each 3 hours of training, capped at 18 hours per calendar year
