If the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) or its regulations are repealed by the Federal Government, Nevada would adopt those provisions as state law, preserving special education protections as they existed on the bill's effective date

Persons who previously had the right to bring civil actions in federal district court under IDEA would be authorized to file equivalent lawsuits in Nevada state courts

Any federal special education funding received by Nevada would be directed toward identifying and evaluating pupils with disabilities and providing services to them

The Nevada Department of Education is authorized to adopt regulations to implement these provisions

Contains an unfunded mandate for local governments; becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval
