Peace officers must complete training on identifying and interacting with persons with developmental disabilities, and annual continuing education must now include training on interactions with persons with developmental disabilities, which may cover recognizing and responding to individuals with autism spectrum disorder

Authorized training topics for autism spectrum disorders include: nature and manifestation of the disorder, interview/interrogation techniques, locating missing persons with ASD, de-escalation techniques, differentiating ASD behaviors from belligerence, and addressing safety challenges in correctional facilities

The Legislative Auditor must conduct an audit of the Board of Applied Behavior Analysis during the 2025-2027 biennium, examining the effectiveness, efficiency, and timeliness of the licensure and registration process for behavior analysts and registered behavior technicians

The audit report must be presented to the Audit Subcommittee of the Legislative Commission by January 31, 2027

Training provisions become effective October 1, 2025, while the audit requirement becomes effective upon passage and approval
