County and district hospitals may now employ medical and dental residents and fellows, replacing the outdated term "interns" in statute, and district hospitals gain explicit authority to employ dentists.

County hospitals may institute training programs for fellows in addition to resident physicians, with programs required to meet Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education standards.

County and district hospitals may contract for or directly provide crisis stabilization services and other mental or behavioral health services connected to crisis stabilization centers.

County and district hospitals may form separate organizations to provide or contract for health services related to hospital operations or public welfare.

Effective July 1, 2025.
