Medicaid coverage for medical respite care for homeless individuals limited to 90 days per 12-month period, effective July 1, 2027, contingent on federal financial participation

Covered services include case management, care coordination, behavioral health services, food and housing support, medication management, acute and post-acute medical care, wound care, transportation to appointments, and substance use disorder treatment

Participating facilities must be staffed 24/7 by health care providers trained in trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and mental health first aid

Department of Health and Human Services required to apply for federal waivers or State Plan amendments necessary to receive federal funding for the coverage

Division of Health Care Financing and Policy must coordinate with Division of Public and Behavioral Health to develop a care model aligned with National Institute for Medical Respite Care standards
