Prohibits firearm purchase, ownership, or possession for 10 years for persons convicted of hate crimes motivated by the victim's race, color, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression

Permanently prohibits firearm ownership for persons convicted of hate crimes involving violence, including assault, battery, stalking, harassment, or hazing offenses

Violation of the 10-year prohibition is a category D felony; violation of the permanent prohibition for violent hate crimes is a category B felony punishable by 1-6 years imprisonment and up to $5,000 fine

Each firearm purchased or possessed in violation constitutes a separate offense for prosecution purposes

Persons convicted of qualifying hate crimes before July 1, 2025 may retain firearms they legally owned before that date; act becomes effective July 1, 2025
