Establishes a 17-member Senior Housing Task Force within the Office for the Aging to assess statewide senior housing needs across different geographical areas and a 10-year projection period.

Task Force composition includes representatives from nine state agencies (Office for the Aging, Housing and Community Renewal, Department of Health, Office of Mental Health, Department of Economic Development, Empire State Development Corporation, Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, Protective Services for Adults, and NYC Department for the Aging) plus eight additional members appointed by the Governor on recommendation of legislative leaders and representing housing and senior citizen groups.

Task Force must meet at least four times in different geographical areas and consider health care needs, long-term care needs, financial resources, transportation needs of seniors, and review innovative approaches from other states.

Task Force shall be co-chaired by the Director of the Office for the Aging and the Commissioner of the Division of Housing and Community Renewal.

Task Force must issue a report by January 1, 2013 outlining findings, recommendations, and a state plan with time frames to be delivered to the Governor, legislative leaders, and relevant committee chairpersons.
