Magazine publishers must disclose subscription expiration dates on mailing labels in clear, conspicuous, understandable and readable form.

Publishers must clearly disclose expiration dates in direct written renewal communications, either in the communication itself or on the mailing label if packaged with a magazine issue.

Subscription renewal periods cannot begin before the current subscription expires.

Third-party magazine subscription solicitors must follow the same disclosure requirements as publishers when inviting subscribers to renew.

Violations are subject to civil penalties of up to $100 for single violations and $500 for multiple violations, or up to $500 and $1,000 respectively for knowing violations; the attorney general may seek injunctions and restitution, and bona fide errors with reasonable procedures are exempt.
