Electric corporations must notify the chief executive officer or designated agency/department head of a municipality when an impending electrical emergency may affect that municipality.

Municipalities receiving notification of a pending electrical emergency must provide appropriate notice and information to designated media outlets, including electronic, print, internet, and other public media serving the affected area.

The Public Service Commission, in conjunction with the Attorney General, shall promulgate rules and regulations to enforce these notification requirements, soliciting input from electric corporations and municipal officials.

The regulations shall establish protocols addressing the magnitude and severity of impending emergencies and set procedures for public notification.

The act takes effect 180 days after becoming law.
