Amends New York Education Law to explicitly authorize use of lever voting machines in school district elections, board of education elections, and cooperative educational services meetings.

Allows school district trustees, boards of education, and cooperative educational services boards to use lever voting machines for recording votes on elections and questions at annual and special meetings.

Adds clarifying language that county boards of elections are not required to maintain care, custody, or control of lever voting machines used by school districts and cooperative educational services.

References voting machine use to subdivision one of section 2035 of the education law across multiple sections to establish consistent standards for machine examination and ballot label placement before use.

Bill takes effect immediately and expires December 31, 2012, at which point all authorizations for lever voting machines will be repealed.
